Titans Make Huge Trade After Disappointing Draft

During the first round of the NFL draft, the Tennessee Titans brass proved to me that they have the collective brainpower of a box turtle. With their first pick of the 2008 draft, the Titans selected………a running back. Yes, a running back. He should go nicely with the running back they selected with their second pick last year. And those two running backs should go nicely with the running back they selected with their second pick the previous year.
Apparently by the 4th round, the equipment guy at Titans headquarters notified the higher-ups that they had no more jerseys with NFL allowed numbers for running backs. At this point, they proved to me that they have the collective brainpower of an oxygen deprived box turtle. With their first pick in the fourth round, the Titans drafted a guy that wasn’t in the draft. You read that correctly. He was not on the NFL draft list. For perspective, this is akin to Roger Clemens dating a woman not in the girl scouts. It just doesn’t happen. To make matters either worse or more comical depending on your mindset, it turns out the Titans traded their 5th round pick in order to move up in the fourth round to draft the guy not in the draft. I need say no more about the 4th round.
I would, however, like to share with you what the Titans did after the draft. This was when the Titans proved to me that they have the collective brainpower of a slightly besotted, oxygen deprived box turtle. In a move described by coach Jeff Fisher as “A way to add both veteran leadership and immediate depth to the non-running back position,” the Titans traded 2-time pro-bowler Kyle Vanden-Bosch and next year’s first round pick for Reggie White.
