Now that she has a reason to be proud of America for the first time in her life, accounts from her friends and neighbors as the 4th of July approaches paint Michelle Obama as a giddy teenager getting ready for her first school dance. “I’ve never seen her like this before,” stated neighbor Madelyn Crownover, “Usually during the week of the fourth, you don’t even see her come out of the house. Since the Obamas moved here, I can only remember her coming to our neighborhood cookout once, and she just stood by herself eating a slaw-dog. Then when I turned around after putting in the Lee Greenwood cd for my husband’s fireworks show, she was gone.”

   “I can’t tell you what a difference I see in her this year,” said a friend, “I ran into her at the fireworks tent off highway 86 Monday. She had a basket full! Roman candles, 4 gross of those $1.99 bottle rockets, and more sparklers than I could count. She even had a 4-pack of those cardboard chickens that shoot flaming eggs out of their butts. I’m just so happy that she is now as proud of this country as I am.”
